Super C couloir at Portillo, Chile
I was supposed to go down to Chile this summer and meet up with a friend who lives there, but obligations have conspired against me. Mainly the fact that I just started a new job and we have a software application due at the end of September. Not a great time to tell my new boss, “Hey, I am off to South America to ski to for a couple of weeks – good luck with the coding”. Anyways, they are having a killer winter and my buddy Tim just sent me an email with a picture of him skiing the super c couloir in Portillo. I told him not to send me anymore photos, lest I quit my job. But here is the tasty photo and description from Tim:
It´s a 4+ hour hike straight up from the top of Roca Jack, which leaves you at the top of the mountain on that side of the valley, right next to Aconcagua. The Super C is a chute that takes you all the way down to the lower lift at Portillo, a vertical mile and 50 degrees the whole way! Check out the curves in the road way below.
