Here’s an interesting satellite image showing a record low for Artic Sea Ice. According to the accompanying article, we have seen record or near record lows since the year 2001. Probably a good indicator of global warming and its effects. But global warming’s effects aren’t clear cut as another photo from NASA shows increased ice coverage in the South Pole. They attribute the growing ice to increased precipitation caused by the warming air.

Having come off a terrible snow year in the Northwest, global warming is definitely on the top of my mind. But you only have to look back 7 years or so and see a record snow year for the Northwest. I don’t think you can blame global warming for this past year, but I do think global warming will cause wider fluctuations in our climate and produce more abnormal years. And in our life time, the snow level will rise due to global warming, forcing us to go higher and higher for the blissful white stuff…
