It had been awhile since my last circumnavigation of Chair Peak, and we decided to throw in the option of Kaleetan if conditions and time allowed. The cloud cover was keeping things cool, and we had to boot up the short section out of Great Scott Bowl on the way to the Bryant Peak col. We skied the hard pack down to Melakwa Lake and started skinning towards Chair Peak Lake and had to make a decision on how to get up the ridge to Kaleetan. We ended up boot packing up a chute that landed us on a ridge that didn't connect directly to Kaleetan. We decided to ski back down the chute without an attempt on Kaleetan, but I now know how not to get to Kaleetan. We took the direct ski down from Chair Peak Lake, which was a challenging ski, but fun. Once on Snow Lake, we passed by a big slide, and noticed the numerous crowns on Chair Peak from the massive instability a couple of weeks ago.
