We weren’t sure where we wanted to go, but we knew we had to get out the skins if we wanted the freshies. We settled on Flute Bowl; neither Tyson nor I had ever been there, but it looked like there was ample touring terrain. After a series of lifts, we finally arrived at the top and we couldn’t see a thing. We ventured past the backcountry gates and tried to figure out where we needed to go. After poking around Piccolo and almost going down a slope to god knows where, we figured out where we were and made our way over to the cat track in Flute Bowl. By this time, the clouds were starting to lift and we got a view of the terrain; it was untracked and looked fantastic.

We threw on our skins and followed the cat track around the bowl. It was an easy skin and we were getting our first turns in untouched powder by 10:00am. The run down was excellent and we stopped at the bottom for a quick break and made small talk with a couple of Seattlites.

We ended up taking three more runs, venturing through the Garibaldi gate on the third lap and taking a run down towards O-Bowl. The snow was that much deeper on that side and it was some of the best quality snow I have ever skied. All in all an amazing day of powder skiing!
