In stark contrast to our last trip up to camp Muir a couple of weeks agi, a dense cloud layer surrounded mount rainier and kept the crowds away. There was hardly a soul on the trail as we made up to Paradise Glacier and saw abundant wildlife on the hike up. Once at Paradise glacier, we were unsure if we would be able to get a ski in. There had been a tremendous amount of melting in the last couple of weeks and the crevasses had opened up big time.

We hiked up along the ridge and finally found some solid snow to get on. The clouds dissipated as we skinned up Paradise glacier and the glacier seemed less sun-cupped than the last time we were on it. The ski down was decent and we paid careful attention to avoid the crevasses.
