Trip Report
For our August ski this year, we opted for Baker instead of Rainier. With clouds and mist swirling overhead, we began the approach hoping for sun but ready for rain. After the hike around Table Mountain, we were on snow and began the skin along Ptarmigan Ridge, hoping to find a nice slope to ski. We headed out past Coleman Pinnacle to Lasiocarpa Ridge, taking a slight detour along the way to snap some pictures of a large flock of mountain goats. We finally reached our destination and had a nice ski down, finding a steep and moderately sun-cupped slope. The clouds had prevented the snow from softening a lot, which was nice. We did the long traverse out and back to cold beers at the car.
