Rocky Run
Feb 24, 2007 - Feb 24, 2007Work and weather were conspiring to keep me out of the mountains. Finally, the precip came with cold temps and I cleared my weekend, not wanting to go a whole month without skiing. Avalanche danger was high, as a lot of snow was falling, so we opted to head into the trees along Rocky Run Ridge. Dale, Tim and I had been up there before, but we have a different area in mind.
Day one consisted of Tim, Dale, Kenny and myself getting to the top of the ridge and getting an epic ski down through some of the lighest snow of the year. The next day, Tim and I went back, re-using our skin trail and making it up to the ridge in a short amount of time. We got a great ski in, stopping about half way down once the snow started to become heavy. We skinned back up to the top and went down a different way, navigating through the very steep terrain.
