Alpental
Feb 17, 2005Trevor and I decided to get another morning tour in before work, as the snow quality was good and we were not sure how much longer the snow would be here. Geared up, we made our way up Sessel, which was completely covered in tracks. It looked as if Alpental had been open the past week!
Upon reaching the bottom of Chair 2, I took a short break in the sun and pondered the greater things in life, like when in the hell is the snow going to fall? After Trevor finished monkeying around with some equipment, we continued our ascent and wound our way into Edelwiess Bowl. It looked very strange with this little snow. The sun was out and it was actually quite warm in the bowl. I was feeling a little under the weather and a couple of times almost convinced myself that I needed to turn around.
We skied down International, and we were hard pressed to find fresh snow. There were numerous tracks down the run and it was quite wind affected. It was not until the bottom half of Upper I that I finally got a couple good turns in. We picked our way through some boulders and traversed out onto Lower International beneath the cliffs. Each of us chose a line through some brush and got some nice powder turns.
