Unlike the previous year at The Canyons, my brother didn’t make it out and I had to recruit my cousin to accompany me in the backcountry. Being from Connecticut, he didn’t have any experience earning his turns, but after some cajoling I finally got him to agree to a hike above Ninety Nine Ninety. On the advice of a gentleman on the lift, we hiked looker’s right of the lift, an area I didn’t get to on my last trip. We found a small cornice and had a nice drop in. The snow was variable, with most of it being heavy due to sun exposure. Towards the bottom, and off the ridge, I was able to locate some lighter snow and enjoyed some pow turns in the trees. After that, it was time to hit the park, where my main objective was to not injure myself as I hit and fell on the rails.
