Recovering from a fever, I felt well enough to join the boys for two days of light touring in the backcountry. We got a late start on day 1, as everyone except my brother and I had to rent touring gear. Once set up, we skied the backside of Flute Bowl, finding some nice tracks and then skinned up Obie Bowl. The weather cooperated, and we were treated to great views and enjoyable turns. We opted to ski out via the Signing Pass trail, which was not very fun. It is an extremely long out, and the path winds through the valley, doing a number of on your legs. I felt bad for Jon and Jim, as it must have been a lot worse on a snowboard.

Day two was a quick ski down the backside of Flute, a skin back up to the top of Flute and a ski back to the lift, as we had to head back down to Seattle so everyone could catch a flight out. Visibility wasn’t very good and the top part was wind blown, but lower in the valley the vis cleared up somewhat, and we found some nice pow.
