HyakApr 6, 2004
Hyak is what the base area Summit East of The Summit at Snoqualmie was formerly known as. In fact, the village is still called Hyak and the majority of people still refer to the area as Hyak. During winter operations, Hyak is only open on weekends and towards the end of March it closes for the season. The face of Mount Hyak provides some great intermediate skiing with very easy access.
The two main routes to the top are up the face and up one of the trails which wraps around looker's right of the mountain. It usually takes anywhere from 30 to 40 minutes to ascend to the top and the descent is pretty obvious. Hyak is located at a lower elevation than many other mountains, and the snow typically melts faster there in the spring.
