With the unstable weather continuing, we decided to hire a taxi and head to McLeod Ganj for a couple of days. We hired Peter, a Tibetan friend of Trevor and Emily, to guide us around the city, as he had previously lived there and still had relatives in that area. Our drive there was long, but fantastic. We took a less traveled road that went deep into the lush mountains surrounding the Kullu Valley. We arrived in McLeod Ganj later that night, ate some food at our hotel and then went out for a couple of drinks. The town had a good number of western tourists, but the streets were desrted when we came home at midnight.

We spend the next two days touring around McLeod Ganj with Peter as our tour guide. We visited Dal Lake, the Children’s Village, Norbulingka Institute, Tsuglag Khang (the Dalai Lama’s temple) and a exhibition about China’s occupation of Tibet. Peter proved to be a great guide, with ample knowledge about the area and Tibetan culture/history and he took us to his in-laws house in a Nepalese village outside of McLeod Ganj for tea and biscuits. Tyson was taking a taxi directly from McLeod Ganj to Delhi, so we celebrated Thursday night, although it ended up being pretty mellow. On Friday, Pepe, Trevor, Emily, Peter and myself hoped back into the car and began the 8 hour drive back to Solang, hoping for better weather.
