Short Sand Beach

Jul 4, 2004 - Jul 4, 2004

Gunjan and I had been looking at the weather for the past week trying to decide if we would get rain or sun. Every time we have been to Oswald State Park, it has rained. Sometimes it was mostly sunny with rain on the last day, other times it was rain followed by more rain.

We were determined to get some nice weather there, but we didn't want to wait until July or August, so we played the guessing game. The forecast looked decent, with nice weather on Monday and clouding over on Tuesday, so we made the call to go.

Of course we were heading there on Monday, July 5th and were more than a little worried about finding a camping spot. After we made it through packed traffic, we arrived at Oswald State Park around 2pm and easily found a camping spot. We went down to the beach, read and got some sun.

The cloud rolled in that night and the next day it was overcast, altough without rain. Gunjan and I went to Cannon Beach and walked out to Haystack rock to see the marine life and snap come pictures. After that it was back to the campsite where we had to decide whether to stay for another night even thought the weather wasn't great or bail out now. We decided to stay and right after I paid for another night, it started to rain. We sought shelter in the tent and took a nap, but when we woke up the rain had not stopped.

We decided to pack up camp and make our way back to Seattle...
